IDEALIZING YOUR DREAM JOB

“Oh my dream job is to be a radio presenter, it’s all about having fun and I really wish I had such job”.
The above statement is an example of comments being made by career people, job-seekers and the teeming unemployed youths visualizing or imagining a dream job or career.

With sky-high optimism, they imagine and wish for their dream job without actually digging deep and being realistic. Now let’s face it; a radio-presenter works round the clock tirelessly, even public holidays aren’t automatic off-days in other establishments. In addition, he/she has to maintain a certain standard, not letting any personal or family issue affect the job and he/she must always sound happy and focused while on-air irrespective of his/her mood, emotion, e.t.c; how more difficult could this be.

Your dream must find relevance to the need of the society and your aspiration must meet people’s need because that’s the only way you can happily express yourself with your job/career. You must move from idealism and be realistic.

Find something doing from which you derive some sort of personal and financial satisfaction to say the least, no matter how small. Unsurprisingly, not a few people who towed this path have actually had lots of gain in the long run ranging from expansion of their businesses beyond their wildest imagination to financial establishment and large rewards. Remember big things start small.

Don’t be like that lady who jut drops home and says ‘I quit my job’. If peradventure you are tired of your present job, talk to someone who really counts on you or probably your H/R manager at the office. You never can tell you might just strike a gold-coated pot of advice instead of making a hasty decision.
Most importantly, remember you either love what you do or you do what you love!

Best of luck in your career.
